As the biggest of the sunny Canary Islands, Tenerife is understandably a popular holiday destination for many.  There is a distinctly different feel between the north and south of the island though, so which is best for you and you party?  In the north, you will discover a lush, tropical paradise with a fractionally cooler climate than in the south.  There is one main resort there called Puerto de la Cruz which has an array of mainly four star, half board hotels particularly suitable for Senior Citizens.  The nightlife here is low key, although during the day there are plenty of activities in the resort to keep you occupied.  One of the main attractions in the resort is the Lido Martianez, which comprises a series of seven filtered natural salt water swimming pools perfect for spending days together with the whole of the family.  The Loro Parque nature park is another key attraction within the resort.  It is home to a number of amazing species including tigers and killer whales, whilst the dolphin shows have proved to be very popular over the years.

In contrast, the south of Tenerife is a suntrap and has resorts with a busier feel to them suitable for people looking for a more bustling type of holiday.  Playa de las Americas is the main resort here and has distinctive black sand beaches.  It is a lively resort which has a big clubbing scene especially around an area known as the Veronicas strip.  The fun continues at the Siam water park, which is regarded as the best in the Canary Islands, whilst the nearby Tenerife Zoo is also a major attraction in these parts.  The south of the island has a full range of accommodation, giving tourists flexibility as to what type of holiday they decide upon.  If you want to be away from all the noise but still have good access to all the main areas of interest, then Los Cristianos with its pretty harbour could be a good place to stay.  So as you can see, holidays to Tenerife vary significantly and can be suitable for many different types of people.  Hopefully after reading this article, you will now know which area of the island you will want to stay in.
