my social life isn’t that great…however when im on holiday in tenerife its differant…?
hi im 17. and im due to start college in september.
at the moment my social life is not at all great i do try at times to go out with friends but sometimes it never happens
iv’e recently started the gym to give me something to focus on and look forward to but when i finish gym i normally come home and am totally bored.
i like the good old drink and i know some old school friends who go out and drink but they have never asked me to join them so iv’e never been out with them when i would like to..
i dont have many friends since i left school and i have no idea why it seems im drifted away from the social world into just getting up going gym coming home watching tv playing xbox and and on laptop and bed..
i want my social life back yet i have no idea where to start.
however when im in tenerife i have a social life there but when im in boring birmingham im never happy. because i dont have a social life here.
I promise you, when you start college, your social life will be a million times more exciting than it ever was before… You’ll meet new people. You can start over, and you can be as confident and outgoing as you want to be. High school– and all its silly social drama– will seem like a distant memory as soon as you settle in to your life as a college student. College will be an amazing, fun, crazy part of your life, I guarantee it.
When you first get to college, you might feel out of sorts and uncertain, because you won’t know anyone right away. But all the freshmen will be feeling the same way, and you’ll meet people very soon. I was pretty shy in high school, and when I first arrived at college, I was totally overwhelmed. But within the first week, I was meeting a billion new people and becoming a new, outgoing person. I graduated from college 5 years ago, and I still keep in touch with many people I met there. In fact, I married one of them!
College is nothing like high school. People are more grown-up, more confident, more kind, more fun… My advice: get out there and meet people immediately when you arrive at college. Go to all the silly getting-to-know-you parties and mixers. Sit down with someone in the dining hall. Go to any parties you hear about. If you’re open and fun and friendly, you’ll have endless opportunities to meet great people (and have an amazing time).
