Guidance on long distance relationship needed!?

Ok. Geek story coming up: NOTE im not a geek!
Well.. I have met this great girl online. She is in the US, im in Tenerife, spain. I really want to meet up and be with her, which i may well achieve within a year.. Should i ask her out now and try a long distance relationship online or should i just wait until i get to the US?
She is too good to pass up, We share the same interests, she is great to talk to… well its all good.. What should I do? I dont want to pass her up.. Its rare that i find anyone with the same mentality as myself… and she is it.. What do I do?
