tenerife weekend breaks
going on holiday to tenerife?

taking the wife to tenerife for a weekend break over valentines day. neither one of us have been there and we don’t know which part of the island to go.were just after somewhere relaxing near the beach in our mid 20’s any recommendations or any links.
we’d be very greatful. thx

Certainly go to the South. It is more desert so should be dry. The North can be as cold and rainy as the UK in February and as most flights go to Rena Sophia airport in the South it is a longish drive to the Northern resorts. Tenerife is very diverse with it’s weather, due to the mountainous area around Tiede.

Playas Americas and Los Christiana’s are the most popular tourist places and everything is to hand there for a great stay. Pubs bars clubs and restaurants are all plentiful and nearby. It has been described as Blackpool with sunshine. If you have never been before and are only going for a week end you certainly do not need to spend too much time trying to find places to go and even a recommendation can take you ages to find the place once you get there. It is all touristy so do not expect any typical local cuisine around the resorts, you are more likely to find fish and chips or pie and peas. Tea and Guiness than a get a cultural experience.

With the way airports are and the travel involved it will take a full day to travel from door to door each way. Personally for a short break like you are taking I would suggest Palma in Majorca or Barcelona in Spain. It is usually warm enough in both locations, coastal and each has plenty of decent hotels and a lovely marina. Far more romantic Quicker flights too. But watch the airport they offer you Gerona is supposed to be for Barcelona but it is a long distance away. 00

If your heart is set on Tenerife though, There is plenty of information on this site.
